About us

Since November 1, 1990, L’Arche Homefires has operated Applewicks, a workshop providing meaningful work and opportunities for adults with special needs. The workshop had various locations before moving into its current home at 10 Gaspereau Avenue, Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Eleven adults with special needs attend Applewicks from Monday to Friday, creating wonderful hand-crafted weaving and candles. Products made at Applewicks are sold in our on-site store, and can be ordered by telephone, mail, or e-mail.                                           

The candles made at Applewicks are all hand finished, making our work unique. We offer a full line of decorative, scented and unscented candles. Visitors are welcome to come and browse in our storefront, and to take a tour of the weaving room and candle-making shop.
