Volunteers

Carmen has been Applewicks' "Soup Lady" since 2004. Carmen comes to Applewicks every Tuesday from Fall through Spring, to make soup with one of our core members. Between them they create tasty soups that everyone shares at lunchtime.

Betty is a long-term volunteer, having come to Applewicks in the early 1990s. Betty, now fondly called the "Dessert Lady," helps by finishing work on our woven products, making meals, creating the very best desserts, or taking on many other jobs asked of her in support of the workshop.

Clay, better known around here as K or the goofball, has been a volunteer since the mid 1990s. Clay has taken on many roles over the years. He has made candles, helped in the weaving room, been a driver, and much more. Clay retired at the end of 2007.  He remains a friend of L'Arche and of the many folks he met here.

Lorraine, who is studying at the Acadia Divinity College, came to Applewicks as a volunteer in November 2005. She joined the team as a staff member in March of 2007 to cover a maternity leave. Lorraine has been learning about weaving and how to support the members of the workshop. Lorraine now volunteers one day a week.

Bernadette , or as Christina calls her "Bern" brings a smile and weaving experience to our workshop.  Bernadette volunteers 2 days a week. Bernadette joined our team in August 2008.
