Access Awareness Week
The Partnership for Access Awareness Nova Scotia committee, also known as "PAANS" committee is excited to host the 38th Access Awareness Week in Nova Scotia from May 26th to June 1st, 2024. This year's theme is "Communities for All: Taking Action on Access Awareness."
For 37 years, Nova Scotians have organized community events during Access Awareness Week to bring attention to the importance of removing barriers for people with disabilities. Through public awareness, community partnerships education and dialogue, Access Awareness Week aims to foster an environment of equal participation for persons with disabilities.

World Down Syndrome Day Flag Raising and Proclamation
The ceremony will be held at 8:45 in the Municipality of the County of Kings council chambers at 181 Coldbrook Village Park Drive in Coldbrook.
Each year, on March 21st, we celebrate members of our families, as well as our communities, on this symbolic day. The date of March 21st (3/21) is chosen to represent the important date as Down syndrome, medically known as T21, is a third copy of the twenty first chromosome, meaning both are represented by 3/21.
A proclamation will be read, and a flag will be raised, to bring awareness to individuals living with Down syndrome, and to celebrate the important roles they play in our lives, as family members, friends, and contributing members of our community.
Read Proclamation by Mayor Muttart.
