Applewicks

Applewicks is located at 10 Gaspereau Ave. in Wolfville. This is a workshop where candles, weaving and other quality products are produced. Work is important for everyone; people work hard at Applewicks but also manage to have a lot of fun! The program operates from Monday to Friday. The work day is from 9am – 4pm with an early closing day on Wednesday. People participate in all aspects of production according to their abilities. People also participate in selling the products produced, either in the attached store or at craft sales throughout the area. Applewicks hosts a number of classes, youth and school groups through the year and folks enjoy teaching the students about candle making and weaving. Applewicks has many visitors through the year who are interested in touring the weaving room and candle shop. Core members who attend Applewicks may live in our community homes or may live elsewhere and travel in daily to work. Some people attend full time and others attend part time. At Applewicks we make an effort to find out each person’s interests and incorporate them into their day. It is wonderful to see people’s skills develop in weaving and candle making over time. All places at Applewicks are funded through the Department of Community Services. When spaces become available at Applewicks we work together with the DCS Care Coordinator to fill the space. If you are interested in being part of Applewicks someday please contact Ingrid at director@larchehomefires.org
