Homes

If you are available in the evenings or on weekends we would be very happy to welcome you as a volunteer in any of our five homes. Four of our homes are located in Wolfville and one home is located in Greenwich. There are usually 3 – 5 persons with disabilities and 3 or 4 live in assistants in each home. Becoming a volunteer often begins with a supper invitation to the home which gives you a chance to meet people! Volunteers can help out in many different ways, it all depends on you. Some volunteers come weekly; others come every couple of weeks. Volunteers can get involved in a variety of ways including; preparing supper or baking with someone, playing piano or guitar as lots of people enjoy music, going for a walk, going for coffee, bowling or swimming, spending time watching a movie or going to play pool. Often volunteers play games or help make puzzles. Sometimes volunteers help people send e mails or read e mails. Some volunteers take people to church or to concerts. We also welcome volunteers who like to garden, who can sew or who can repair furniture!

The important thing is getting to know each other, and the activity helps that to happen.

If you are interested in volunteering at any of the homes send Marian an e mail to homescoordinator@larchehomefires.org
