University Practicum

Many University Students or College Students need to find a placement site to complete the practicum requirements of their courses. L’Arche Homefires can help you with this! For a number of years we have had a mutually beneficial relationship with a number of practicum students from Canada as well as from overseas. For example each year we welcome practicum students from Germany into our homes for a 6 week experience, we have also welcomed a Social Work student from England , who completed her practicum placement with us over a four month period. Annually we welcome students from the Community College to complete their practicum placements in our Day Programs. We provide supervision to the students and complete evaluation and all paperwork as required by the University or college. If you think you may be interested is having a Practicum Placement with us at L’Arche Homefires, I would suggest you contact us as early in the year as possible. Also we are open to considering requests for shorter term practicum placements BUT please call us a minimum of two weeks before the placement has to be completed. This gives us time to organize something for you. Through this opportunity many lasting friendships have developed, students experience a unique way of “being with” people, and for us it is a wonderful way of outreach and letting more people know about the Mission of L’Arche.
