Building Inclusive Employment in Wolfville

View the report here.

L’Arche Homefires has been exploring how our community can become a model for inclusive employment in rural Nova Scotia. With support from The Purposeful Group and Social Enterprise Solutions, we developed a strategic business plan grounded in Social Role Valorization (SRV), aiming to create meaningful work opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Our working group, including community partners, the Town of Wolfville, and local businesses, identified key priorities, reviewed best practices across Canada, and shaped a vision for Wolfville’s future in inclusive hiring.

The Final Report is now complete, outlining a proposed model, process, and even a potential new role to support employers and community members in building inclusive workplaces.

What’s next?

  • A joint grant opportunity with a community partner

  • Exploring municipal funding through the Town of Wolfville

  • Growing provincial visibility for our approach

With the right resources, Wolfville can lead the way in creating pathways to meaningful employment, strengthening both our core members’ lives and the wider community.
